Boston Globe:
Boston connections heat up Sundance
Well, now we understand why Bostonians are having such a
difficult time getting a flight to Utah.
A new episode of WGBH's ''American Experience" about
sex researcher Alfred Kinsey screens this afternoon at the
Sundance Film Festival in Park City. The film, which airs
Feb. 14, will be introduced by executive producer Mark Samels.
A panel discussion that includes Kinsey Institute director
Julia Heiman follows the screening. Samels also will be on
hand Wednesday for a roundtable discussion on ''When Worlds
Collide: Sex, Science, Seduction, and Sovereignty" sponsored
by the Creative Coalition. Today is also the Sundance premiere
of director Marcos Siega's ''Pretty Persuasion," which
stars Evan Rachel Wood and James Woods. One of 16 films in
the dramatic feature category, it gives venture capitalist-turned-filmmaker
Todd Dagres his first credit as a producer, while Emerson
College alum Eric Kopeloff is one of the film's executive
producers.
''Inside Deep Throat," a documentary by Fenton Bailey
and Emerson grad Randy Barbato, will premiere at Sundance
and is slated to go into wide release next month.
Emerson alum Maryanne Galvin's ''The Pursuit of Pleasure"
will be screened at the Freedom Cinema Festival, running concurrently
with Sundance in Park City.
